Charges filed as a result of December disturbance in Jersey Shore
Called to 310 South Lincoln Ave. in Jersey Shore to investigate a report of a person who had overdosed on alcohol during the early morning of Dec. 10, Lycoming Regional police found James Joseph Cabot Jr. on a second-floor balcony in gym shorts allegedly in an intoxicated state, court records stated. When officers attempted to take him into custody for intoxication, he took “an aggressive stance towards the officers with closed fits,” it was stated in an affidavit Weighing close to 400 pounds, Cabot, 52, began making numerous threats, repeatedly telling them “I’ll beat you the (expletive) up,” and “I’ll kill you,” the court document stated. At one point, Cabot, of 508 Allegheny St, Jersey Shore, “cornered officers and ambulance personnel on the balcony,” forcing the officers to place him on the ground, the affidavit stated. He was taken to Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital, where he continued to yell obscenities and threats, police alleged.
At his arraignment last week before District Judge Denise Dieter on charges of terroristic threats, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, Cabot admitted he was “a binge drinker,” but that he “has not had a drink since” the incident. He told Dieter he remembers “nothing” about what allegedly happened on the balcony. He was released on $25,000 bail.
