Accused drug dealer said he gave drugs free as “gifts”

When detectives with the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit showed up at 130 ½ Market Street in South Williamsport with a search warrant on Dec. 4, they found James Mullis, who admitted that he had methamphetamine in a bookbag that was in his vehicle parked outside, according to an affidavit. He consented to having the car searched, and the detectives seized 18 grams of methamphetamines, the court document stated.

Mullis, 41, who is homeless, “admitted to providing methamphetamine to ‘friends,’ but claimed they were gifts and that he did not receive cash in return,” it was alleged in the affidavit. The detectives also took possession of a small amount of marijuana gummies and psilocybin mushrooms that were discovered in the residence.

Arraigned last week before District Judge Christian Frey on one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, Mullis remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
