Joann Pearl O’Dell

Joann Pearl O’Dell, 64, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at her home.
Born on May 15, 1960, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Grace (Dunkle) Laubach.
Joann was a proud graduate of Loyalsock Township Senior High School, class of 1978, and furthered her education at the former Williamsport Area Community College, earning a degree in Secretarial Science in 1980. Joann’s professional life began as an insurance underwriter and secretary at Pennsylvania Manufacturer Association, where she dedicated ten years before deciding to focus on her growing family. Joann’s heart was always at home, and she left her career to become a stay-at-home mom, a role she cherished deeply. Her entrepreneurial spirit later led her to start her own cleaning and caregiving service, which she successfully helped countless people for 20 years. Her commitment to her family and clients spoke volumes of her dedication and friendly demeanor.
Joann’s involvement with the Fairlawn Community Church was a testament to her faith. As a faithful Christian, she found strength and solace in her beliefs, which she lived out through her actions and care for others. Her love for the beach and traveling brought her to many beautiful places, but her heart always led her back home to her family and friends. An exceptional seamstress, Joann sewed all her children’s Easter and Christmas dresses and Halloween costumes, a tradition that was cherished and will be fondly remembered. Her talents were just one of the many ways she expressed her love and creativity.
Surviving Joann is her beloved husband of 37 years, Gregory A. “Odie” O’Dell, who stood by her side in every chapter of their lives together. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters, Sara J. O’Dell of Binghamton, NJ, Miranda G. O’Dell of Dalmatia, and Abbey R. O’Dell of Muncy Valley. Joann’s joy was multiplied with the birth of her grandson, Hunter, who brought endless happiness to her days. She is also survived by her step-brother, David Laubach (Candy) of Vista, CA, and her two adored dogs, Burt and Bella, who were her faithful companions.
A celebration of Joann’s life will be announced at a later date.
