Loyalsock Township woman jailed following assault

Prison Cell

Sharon Denise Johnson was arrested late Sunday afternoon following a domestic disturbance with her boyfriend at his apartment building at 1145 Chester St. where the 59-year-old woman picked up a knife and “began swinging it towards him,” city police alleged in an affidavit. The boyfriend, who lives on the second floor, had invited Johnson over to spend some time together, police were told. However, when she arrived about 5:30 p.m., the boyfriend was with a group of friends in a first-floor apartment “watching a football game,” which upset Johnson, who began screaming for the boyfriend to come out and accused him of cheating, police said.

Johnson walked into the unlocked apartment uninvited, got a knife from a kitchen drawer and went toward the boyfriend with it, police were told. The boyfriend grabbed a chair to keep Johnson back, but he struck her with it when she again began swinging the knife at him, police alleged. “Johnson apparently cut her hand with the knife and fled,” police said. Once on the scene, officers followed a blood trail to the elevator and found Johnson in the boyfriend’s apartment. She was taken into custody on charges of burglary, felony trespassing, simple assault, tampering with evidence and theft.

There was no information concerning whether Johnson, of 1582 Randall Circle, was treated at UPMC Williamsport. At her arraignment before District Judge Denise Dieter, Johnson, who was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail, denied the charges, saying “It’s not true. I didn’t do it.”
