CLARKTOWN – State police are still trying to determine who abandoned a burning pickup truck on Second Avenue early Saturday night in Clarkstown.
Investigators believe the truck was being towed privately by an individual when it caught fire, and whoever was towing it took off by the time emergency responders arrived to find the truck engulfed in flames about 6:45 p.m.
Investigators said they suspected the vehicle was being towed because there was a chain on the front of the truck.
Police said they had no reason at this point to believe that the truck was being stolen.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the state police at 570-368-5700.
