Second person charge in Williamsport shooting case

After Dwayne Walker of 608 Maple St., fired a handgun outside his home about 9:40 p.m. on June 2, Sandra G. Alexander exited Walker’s apartment with a backpack, held it open for Walker to put the gun in it and then walked back into the apartment with the backpack, which she placed behind a couch, city police alleged in an affidavit.

While enroute to the scene to investigate a disturbance, officers were told by dispatcher that someone had just fired a shot, police said. No one was injured in the shooting, police said.

Walker, 52, was sitting on his front porch and was “uncooperative,” police said. “A bullet strike was seen in the porch ceiling, above where Walker was seated. Officers also saw a bullet casing inside his front door,” police said in the court document.

While searching the apartment, officers found the handgun behind the couch in the backpack, police said.

Alexander, 50, of 328 Rural Ave., has been charged with one misdemeanor count of tampering with evidence, and was released on $5,000 bail after she waived her preliminary hearing before District Judge Aaron Biichle.

Walker, 52, was charged last summer with recklessly endangering and simple assault, and is also free on $5,000 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
