Lyco baseball picked ninth in Landmark preseason poll

The Lycoming College baseball team is slated ninth in the Landmark Conference Coaches’ Preseason Poll, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

Catholic, which earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship in 2024, topped the poll with 61 points and six first-place votes, just edging out Elizabethtown (57, one first-place vote), another at-large bid selection in 2024, and defending conference champion Scranton (50, two first-place votes). Susquehanna (39) and Drew (37) round out the top half of the league. Wilkes (33), Moravian (22), Juniata (14) and Lycoming (11) finish the ranking.

The Warriors return 28 letter winners from a team that went 9-31 overall and 3-21 in the Landmark Conference in 2024. Junior Nick Reeder – a Montoursville graduate – led the offense with a .340 batting average, 32 runs scored and four triples. Sophomore Eric MacCluen led the team with four home runs and senior Evan Mok paced the team with 18 RBI.

Ten of the team’s top 11 innings-workers return on the mound, paced by junior Jake Wilber (4.85 ERA, 55.2 IP, 33 SO, 29 BB) and senior Zac Zaller (5.97 ERA, 57.1 IP, 19 SO, 17 BB). Junior Joel Inman (3.45 ERPA, 1 SV, 28.2 IP, 18 SO, 4 BB) and sophomore and fellow Montoursville grad Grayson Rinker (3.93 ERA, 2 SV, 18.1 IP, 16 SO, 5 BB) also return to pace the bullpen.

The Warriors open the season on Friday when they visit Greensboro College at 2 p.m. for a doubleheader.

Starting at $2.99/week.
