The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will host Richard Sprout to recount the history of Picture Rocks in his lecture, “Picture Rocks in pictures-past and present,” at the Taber Coffee Hour on Thursday, October 10, at 10a.m. in its Community Room.

The program is free and open to the public. Picture Rocks, a borough in the northeastern corner of Lycoming County, was founded in 1848 on land purchased by Amos Burrows and his nephew Asa R. Sprout. They planned on using the water power of Muncy Creek to run a planing mill for the manufacture of window sash and door frames.

Richard Sprout is a retired high school science teacher and history buff who enjoys giving local history presentations. Sprout is a direct descendant of founders.
