CTL sets audition dates for ‘Dorothy in Wonderland’

Although Mix N’ Match is usually associated with coordinating clothing, the Community Academy of Stage and Theatre (CAST) announced that Mix N’ Match also applies to auditions for one of its Family Series Productions.

Open auditions for “Dorothy in Wonderland” will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Feb. 2-3 at the Community Theatre League, 100 West Third St.

Brian D. Taylor’s “Dorothy in Wonderland” is freely adapted from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” “Alice in Wonderland,” and “Through the Looking-Glass.”

Billed as a “rollicking musical” this C.A.S.T. show finds Dorothy, Toto and the characters of Oz caught up in a whirlwind that sweeps them down the Yellow Brick Road and into Wonderland, where they meet Alice, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, March Hare, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts.

CTL’s “Dorothy in Wonderland” is directed by Caryn Rehm, with Wendy Durant serving as stage manager.

The director said that the real foe in this show is not the Wicked Witch of the West, but the Queen of Hearts. But it is a crucial game of croquet that will decide if Dorothy, Alice, and their friends will be able to return home from the fantasy world in which they find themselves.

Since no display of brains, heart and courage is required, CTL always encourages those with little or no prior experience to audition.

Both the large flexible cast and the audience should find “Dorothy in Wonderland” to be a fantastically fun romp.

This spirited family fare is scheduled to be presented on April 3-5.
