Communities should share ‘love’ for United Way’s hard work

Two local businesses are back to helping an important organization serve the essential needs of many other important organizations.
The “Cup of Love” and “Pint of Love” fundraisers have become something of a tradition for Williamsport and surrounding communities. We are thankful that Alabaster Coffee Roaster and Tea Co. and Bullfrog Brewery continue to graciously support the efforts of Lycoming County United Way.
As the Sun-Gazette reported in last Thursday’s edition, with every sale of a cup of Community Tap-brewed coffee donates $1 to the United Way. With every purchase of the “Pint of Love” at Bullfrog, the business donates $2 to the United Way.
The United Way, in turn, contributes its donations to a number of programs in Lycoming, Tioga and Sullivan counties, helping address a wide array of community needs.
As the organization says on its website, “Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about changing systems to help all of us. … We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, when people are healthy. Living United means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future.”
Just as we appreciate the collaboration by these two businesses, we appreciate the efforts of the United Way to assist the communities of our region and believe everyone should be thankful for their hard work. We hope our readers, in the spirit of that appreciation, will consider supporting either “Cup of Love” or “Pint of Love” this month, and consider supporting the Lycoming County United Way in its efforts throughout the year.
