Lycoming’s Komitski leads Warriors in season finale
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior Ivan Komitski notched a career-high tying 25 points to lead three Lycoming College men’s basketball players in double figures as it fell to the Catholic University of America, 91-60, in Landmark Conference action at Franny Murray Court on Saturday.
Komitski, who hit 7-of-14 3-pointers, finished his career with 492 points and 197 rebounds in 73 games. He averaged a career-best 11.9 points and 4.7 rebounds as a senior.
Junior Isaiah Valentine notched 16 points and two assists to give him 860 points in 76 career games. Sophomore Hayden Pardoe, a Central Mountain graduate, added 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Warriors (3-22 overall, 2-16 Landmark) shot 38 percent from the field (21-of-55) and 39 percent (11-of-28) from 3-point range.
The Warriors held an early 4-2 advantage off a jumper from Pardoe before a run of nine straight Catholic (21-4 overall, 16-2 Landmark) helped it take the lead. Lycoming cut within five with 8:12 left in the half off a 3-pointer from Komitski, but a late 11-1 Catholic run helped it take a 46-27 lead into the break.
The Warriors closed within 17 once in the second half, with 12:36 left, before the Cardinals expanded the lead to 35 with 2:08 left at 91-56.
The Cardinals shot 53 percent from the field (35-of-66), as Sean Neylon led the team with 23 points. Brian Herbert added 16 and Dan Buckley posted 15 points to go with four assists.
