Single-vehicle crash kills driver in Columbia County
BENTON — Daniel J. Hartman, 35, of Benton, was killed Sunday afternoon in a one-car crash on Pole Ridge Road in Jackson Township, according to the state police. Hartman, who was not wearing his seat belt, was traveling east in the 100 block of Pole Bridge Road when he lost control of his 2009 Subaru Outback on the snow and ice-covered two-lane road about 2 p.m, police said. Hartman’s SUV went off the road and struck a ditch before overturning on its passenger side, police said, adding that Hartman was pronounced dead at the scene.
