Precious medals: Montoursville Area High School takes second at Academic Decathlon event

Montoursville Area High School took second place out of eight teams overall at the Academic Decathlon of Central Pennsylvani’s winter scrimmage for the 2024-25 year, held recently at Phillipsburg-Osceola High School. Students competed in music, math, economics and science. Medal winners include: in the Honors Division, senior Addison Confer — silver in math; in the Scholastic Division, senior Naomi Zeigler — silver in math, bronze in music, science and economics, and bronze for overall score; in the Varsity Division, junior Reese Peterson — gold in math and economics, silver in science, and gold for overall score; sophomore Noah Smith — silver in math, bronze in music; sophomore Wesley Foster — gold in math; and senior Nick Eboch — bronze in science. Also competing from Montoursville were sophomores Morgan Hood and Alex Martyniuk; and freshmen Addison Beck, Nadia Farenish, Eva Farquharson, Leigh Jackson and Alexis Zimmerman-West.
